Youth Coordinator - Indigenous Girls Program

Stardale Women’s Group Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and self-directed female Youth

Coordinator to join our team. If you enjoy working with young girls and are passionate about

making a positive impact, this is a great opportunity for you. This is a part-time position with

flexible working hours, designed to help coordinate our Indigenous girls program.

Role and Responsibilities:

The primary focus of the Youth Coordinator is to facilitate and organize weekly Monday and

Wednesday evening sessions, as well as other activities and events throughout the week. Your

roles will be to interface with support staff and volunteers to coordinate transportation for

program activities; direct support staff in their roles of assisting the girls and ensure a smooth

experience for both participants and adults, while also building and maintaining relations with a

variety of stakeholders including volunteers, staff, and community partners.

Qualifications:

● Background and experience in social work, behavioral science, teaching, communications, or related fields; college diploma or degree/training preferred

● Highly motivated with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills

● Experience in youth programming, project coordination, and community development is a preferred asset

● Supervision experience is a strong asset

● Valid drivers license and access to an automobile required

Key Competencies and Abilities:

● Coordinate and implement community-based programs

● Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to work independently

● Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written

● Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Internet literacy

● Engage and coordinate youth and community members in project activities

● Collaborate with community agencies to support Indigenous girls in need

● Work closely with Stardale team members on case management and events

● Provide direction and support to client referring agencies and girl clients

● Conduct public presentations at schools and agencies

● Supervise mentors, staff, and volunteers

● Familiarity with community development and the role of arts in community development is advantageous.

Context:

With over 27 years of experience in violence and abuse prevention specifically for Indigenous

females, Stardale Women’s Group Inc. is a leader in this field. The girls we serve are ages 10 to

17 years. We’ve provided a holistic Life Skills and Literacy program for Indigenous girls at risk of

violence, sexual exploitation, and other destructive behaviors. Our framework addresses

physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being through engaging and educational

activities.

Terms of Employment:

The work would be up to 30 hours per week. The framework has set hours along with some flexible hours. The job will commence upon the hiring of an appropriate applicant.

Wage is a fee for service starting at $28-30/hr.
