Stardale Voguing Program

The Stardale Vogue Modelling Dance Troupe is a project within the "Honouring the Girls' Stories" program umbrella. Stardale developed and implemented self-development programs using creative processes, such as dance, to educate the girls in matters of self esteem, building skill sets in cooperation, and learning how to perform in public setting. We have been encouraged by the positive outcomes and enthusiasm from the girls and their families from within the program dynamic.

Voguing has been defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as follows: "to strike poses in campy imitation of fashion models especially as a kind of dance" - however, as a contemporary mode of performance art, voguing has been both an artefact of activism in response to (social-) classism in society as well as a prominent aspect of the modern fashion world.

Because communities give so much to ARC in terms of important infrastructure and access to resources, we believe in giving back to communities. ARC takes its commitment to corporate responsibility seriously. Since our inception, we have always placed a high value on best practices in health and wellness, social services, sports and recreation, arts and culture, and education. In demonstrating our commitment to these areas, we are supporting the Stardale Women’s Group for Aboriginal girls ages 11- 17 called the “Stardale Voguing program” .

Stardale would like to express gratitude to the generosity of spirit from Christine Underwood, of BMO. Christine designed a beautiful gift basket which was raffled within her branch. She raised $456.75 with her endeavour. Christine is the Financial Services manager of the BMO branch in Mackenzie Town south Calgary.
