April: A Month in Review

The girls enjoyed the (mostly) warmer weather this past month while they participated in a wide variety of activities, performances and ongoing projects.

Creating Something With Your Own Two Hands

April was the month of crafts and creating at Stardale. We had a variety of instructors teach some wonderful lessons on the beauty of being to make something out of nothing. This included a class on crochet, traditional beading techniques and painting.

A Stardale Shopping Spree

The girls spent some time picking out new summer clothes at Value Village to make sure they have everything they need to beat the summer heat.

Stardale Shares More Screening Dates

Stardale continued to offer our Free Educational Sessions Project connecting viewers all over Canada to all three films in the Stardale film trilogy.

To give everyone across Canada an opportunity to learn, Stardale is hosting these screenings from now until the end of June. The sessions are all online and available to view anytime between 12am and 10pm on the date you register. An Additional unique element of these screenings is they include exclusive bonus interviews and panels with the films cast that share insight into the experience of creating these films as well as their core messaging.

Upcoming Screening Dates:

May 18 - The Road

June 1 - The Road

June 7 - Shadows in Time

June 21 - Shadows in Time

June 24 - A Light in the Shadow

Hard Work and Homework

A major pillar of Stardales programming includes supporting our girls all the way through high school graduation. One way we do this is by offering tutoring to the girls (at no cost to them) to assist them with subjects and work they are struggling with. We believe that when we provide positive, supportive environments for Indigenous young women and girls, we build resilience across generations and that includes the support necessary for academic success.

Mentorship Matters

As we move into the summer months Stardale is continuing to grow and develop our mentorship program. Our goal is always to be able to pair as many of our girls as possible with inspiring mentors to help them learn and grow. Our girls look to their mentors for support, guidance and above all as a role model.

If you or someone you know is interested in mentoring with Stardale please contact stardale@gmail.com
